  1. Hey Jonco! Wow, am I the first one? Well, i’ve got a site I think you’ll like: http://www.bugcomic.com/comics/letter/ You should read through it and see if there are any you like. There’s not that many yet, but he usually updates every other day, sometimes daily, and almost every one makes me at least chuckle. 🙂

  2. Hey, Jonco, I just had an idea. What if you set up a message board page at the top of B&P which was effectively just a really big comment page where we can all chat about anything at all? You could have a limit of 100 posts where when there’s 100 posts and you post a new comment, the 101st post is automatically deleted, it could be moderated, and you could make rules not to start flame/religion/politics wars or you’ll be banned from commenting for some time (or something). It’s like a permanent open mic. 😀 I dunno, just something to consider. If anyone other than me checks this page, feel free to reply and let me know what you guys all think.

  4. Jonco, has anyone reported problems viewing the Comments link at the top of the page? I’m getting a style sheet error. This is a new system, so I haven’t really done much on the setup but I’m getting XML on both Firefox and IE.

      • The problem is the ad just above the archive. I has maliciou cding which redirects your browser to see the video. Very annoying. Jonco, do it on Chrome and see what I meen!

  5. Rev, if this is what you mean it’s been happening to me for a while now. About half the time I click the comments link I get this, Usually I refresh once and it goes away.

Well, I copied and pasted what I was seeing but when I posted the comment it changed to regular text.

  6. I just upgraded to IE 8 and it’s cleared up. I’ll play around with Firefox and see what happens as well. As a matter of fact, I also tried it with 2 Blackberrys and one worked correctly and one didn’t. Might just be a capacity issue. I was going to try Safari too, but I think I’ve kind of geeked out for the night and will spend the rest of the evening just making inane comments. Not necessarily online, just sitting around making inane comments.

    • I’m sure the wife will appreciate that Rev. Mention B&P and Infidel and a few other obscure references too, so she’ll really wonder about you… more that she usually does anyway.

That was at the top of the page with some gibberish and some readable text below it.
    Document tree?

  8. Yep, that’s the message I was getting as well, Gary. It’s odd that it’s sporadic though. I did find one reference that indicated one site had a misconfiguration in a mod_security setting, but I would think that would be a consistent error. Capacity is the only thing that really makes sense unless Jonco is hosting on multiple servers that might have different config settings on different devices. Then it would be luck of the draw on which one was causing the problem. I’m more inclined there are network capacity issues that sometimes truncate some of the code and it strips out the part of the information.

Jonco, she knows I’m prone to some odd moments. She still can’t believe I ran you down in Nashville. I told her she was one in a million and I found her. You were only one in 750,000, so the odds were better. But after 25 years of marriage that BS doesn’t work anymore…she just shakes her head and goes back to her crafts.

  9. While we’re on the subject, ever since you overhauled B&P I can’t get the comments link to work on my iPhone anymore. I get ‘.Mac Reader Error’ / ‘Server Not Respondng’ everytime. I had to resort to using Google Reader but there’s such a lag that sometimes posts and comments are delayed a half hour or more. Any idea if there’s something you had pre-hacking that worked with the comments link but isn’t there now?

Your wives know about B&P? I’ve kept this a secret from my wife for years. This is where I go to escape. Notice I sometimes spend countless hours here… sometimes I need lots of escape.

    • No, unfortunately, my wife found out I’ve been going to B&P. I tried covering it up, but she said “Don’t give me that story! I know you haven’t been looking at porn with your mistress, you’ve been out surfing on B&P again!”

    • The only thing that is any different now than before is later versions of WordPress and the theme I use. They’re always improving them and I usually upgrade. That probably explains why some plugins that used to work, like the comment image one, don’t any more. I also wasn’t getting stats from one of my stat plugins, but that was fixed with a plugin update.

  11. Hi Jonco,

Just a quick note to say how much I’m loving the weekend music festival on B&P. It’s so good of you to give these ridiculously taltented people a platform that they might not otherwise get.

    Rock on!

  14. I’ve been following your blog using Google Reading for some time now. Recently, the pictures have a hard time showing up in the Google Reader feed. I didn’t know if you changed a plug in to handle photos. Other blogs’ photos show fine in Reader. Just thought I’d mention it. =) Thanks.

  15. Hi Jonco, I’m not sure how to submit something into your caption contest – so I’ll try it here.
Took a shot of our old cat yesterday when we caught two mice and were about to set them free into the woods. He showed quite some interest 🙂

  17. Hey Jonco!

Here’s a video I made documenting my 3 week road-trip across the US all by myself. It’s got a lot of fun effects and animation sequences, and I think it’d fit right in on your site.

  20. Thank you for quite a few years of fun and entertainment I found on this page. But since the most recent changes it is necessary to have java script enabled to get the content to show up. Since I am leaving it off wherever possible, I’m off too. Cheers, M.
