Luther burger

If you’re the parent of a tween, you’re probably familiar with “spaghetti tacos.” For those not in the know, the idea for this newfound dish—literally spaghetti piled into a hard taco shell—was sparked by a recent episode of Nickelodeon’s iCarly. Within days of the show airing, as  The New York Times reported, a kid-friendly culinary hit was born. The phenomenon got us thinking about other instances of TV food coming to life. Here are eight “unique” dishes that were thought up in the writer’s room but created in kitchens across the country.

The Luther is one impressive combination: a standard bacon cheeseburger placed between two glazed doughnuts. Featured on a 2006 episode of The Boondocks, the burger is said to have been a favorite of Luther Vandross. Since the episode, the over-the-top burger has become an online sensation.  Right arrow2
