New on B&P

Nested commentsI’ve added a couple new features to B&P.

Nested comments:  Comments can be nested which means when you click Reply on a particular comment it will be indented underneath the comment you’re replying to not at the end of the comment list.

If you just reply in the comment box at the end of the list of comments your comment will appear left-justified at the end of the comment list.  This way related comments are grouped together.

Adding images to your comment:  Once again you can add an image to your comment. To add an image to your comment click on the Browse button below the comment input box and navigate to the image you want to post.

IMPORTANT:
PLEASE limit your images to 100K in size.  Images larger than 100K will  be deleted.  You can resize you images using many different graphic programs or you can do it online at places like Pic ResizeResize Pic, Shrink Pictures, and Resizr.  You can Google “resize images” for more options.

A few changes at B&P

I’ve made some changes to B&P recently.  I added a Previously on B&P section in the sidebar that displays the last ten posts.

I’ve also updated the About B&P page and the BABBQ page as well.  I also fixed the comments problem on the pages that we experienced in the last incarnation of B&P. At least I think it’s fixed.

I also removed the donation Recognition Wall that never did work right.  I also installed a plugin which allows readers to edit their comments after they posted them.

Maffu is still working on getting all the old posts back.  Cross your fingers.

Buy Jonco a beer

I’ve activated a plugin to allow B&P readers to make a donation in support of Bits & Pieces (in the right-hand sidebar).  This plugin is a little different than the one I used before.  It’s a lot easier to set up, that’s for sure.  It includes a recognition wall that is built into the plugin.  You can have your name and comment added to the recognition wall or not. That’s your choice.

It also has a suggested amount that is defaulted at $10.  I tried to zero out the default amount but it won’t let me.  You can put whatever amount you want in the box…. $3, $5 $10, $20, $100….. (I wonder how high it will go?)

Anyway, a donation is certainly not required but if you feel so inclined (and some have requested this) I really appreciate the support.

J-Walking in St. Louis

Who’s had more beers?
Jwalk1
It looks like J-Walk has, but I don’t think he drove off the road when leaving Ken’s house, but let’s not talk about that.

The Midwest Mini Blog Summit took place in St. Louis when I met up with John Walkenbach, mastermind behind J-Walk & Associates, the J-Walk Blog and the Spreadsheet Page, not to mention author of countless Excel books, a few of which I own.  We shared trade secrets and the world’s best mustard and a beer or two or ten.

More pictures after the break….

B&P Update…

Well…. I think we’re making progress.  We have the basic site back up without the infected parts.  We don’t have any past content yet, but we’re working on that.  I have added the header logos so it’ll start looking a little more normal.  I’ll have to add all the plugins and blogroll and categories too.

Stay tuned…….

Also, since this is technically a new install, I’ll have to approve your comments the first time.  After that they should go up instantly.
