DJ teaches us about the birds (not the bees)

DJ Writes: On May 1st of 2024, we noticed a robin had built a nest on a trailer hitch under the front overhang of a horse trailer next to a barn I visit.

Mrs. Robin was sitting on 3 eggs and she only left the nest and flew to a nearby tree when a car pulled into the long driveway, and she returned in a few moments.

I started taking quick shots into the nest at those moments, and I took all the other photos from behind my car about 30 ft/10 m away.

The eggs hatched about a week after we found them, and mom & dad both worked hard to keep those 3 hungry kids fed and growing.

And they fledged about 2 weeks after hatching. I had the unique opportunity to document the process.

Thanks DJ – that was awesome!
