  1. Hey, we had sunshine and a beauty of a day here. Just loverly. Thankfully it’s rescued me from my gray cloud. AND Thank you Tenderkiss! I know winter isn’t finished yet but a gorgeous day gives ya hope that spring is around the corner. Now if the six feet of snow in the backyard will disappear by tomorrow, all will be good. I’ve been volunteering like crazy as our cold snap caused a lot of damage with frozen pipes, heat, flooding etc. What a mess some folks had. It’s all cleaned up and everyone is safe now. I like watching Sister Wives too. They’re a loving family and kinda funny too. A different lifestyle but each to their own. I love watching Cops and Lock-Up. ♫ ♪ Bad boys, bad boys, whatcha gonna do? ♪ ♫

    • Haha! I love you girl! I’m glad you watch it too. I just find it fascinating for some reason. Then I think of back when I had to have a female roommate and can’t comprehend being around that many women all the time weather they live in the same house or not. Lol

  2. So being the Mayor of the B&P Lounge has many benefits, one of which is having your post at the top of a new page. I envy you in that you experience all 4 seasons. Here in south Florida we only have 2: nine months of summer and three months of friends and relatives.

  3. Well, we have a contract on a new (to us) house. Assuming all goes well our closing date is a month from now. Now we just need to sell our current house.
I plan to have posts up every day but probably not as many posts per day. There is a lot to do in the next few weeks.

  4. Finally we’re going to get some rain here. This storm should double our current total, up from about an inch so far this rainy season. That leaves us just eight inches short of normal…

  5. Well, I’m finally back from my cruise through the Panama Canal from Los Angeles to Fort Lauderdale. It was sixteen days of being pampered and overfed. We had terrific weather with the temps getting up to 90F in Panama. The Canucks on board were not very happy when they were told that they had to leave the ship in Lauderdale…

  6. Richard, I can tell you that the locals here in south Florida were not very happy, either. Seems to be related to Bad Tipping Disease. They seem to think that a $1 tip per person is sufficient, regardless of the party (or check) size. I have a friend in the business work a 12 top one night at a nice restaurant, her Canadian guests ran up a bill of just over $325, and her tip was $9.00.

  7. Back on the internet, woo hoo.. well, for me, anyway.
Jonco, you are the 4th person I know in the past year who’ve decided to downsize, cull through years of collecting “stuff” and choose to move to a simpler habitat. We did it ‘cuz we had to, and honestly, it’s been the best thing ever. Our other friends have found the change a ‘breath of fresh air,’ and enjoying it. Best of luck to you and the Misses in this new adventure. (I have to admit, I will miss your backyard posts of the deer, snowfall and the Mississippi as your backyard).

    • When I went to Alaska six years ago, I had the opportunity to do a zip line. But this was back at the very very very beginning of the rest of my life, and just being in Alaska represented a huge scary thing for me, and I’d also already done a helicopter trip to a glacier, so I didn’t do the zip line. Now I’m sad, but someday…

  10. Oh, I’m glad Sara got to go on one. We didn’t have much success in Vegas when we tried to go. I’d love to see the video of her!!!

Some Canadians are just dumb. I think they figure that everyone’s minimum wage is the same as ours, which isn’t great but better than some. I know we tipped like crazy while in Vegas when we heard what their wages were.

Tenderkiss, I will be sending you a message when I get moved. Not quite there yet. Still working at it, hopefully soon.

    • We ended up not moving to Chattanooga. Instead, we took a vacation there and just got a rent house in Ruston, La so I can be closer to family while my husband is working in Alaska. Still a lot of unpacking to do.

    • Thanks for leading the search team, Paul! She hasn’t been to the offices either. Hope she didn’t pack herself up in a moving box by mistake. I know she said something about ‘hibernation….’ Maybe the sound of popping the top of a beer will awaken her from slumber, just in time for Spring!

  13. We have a new house and have moved a few things in. I got internet, phone and TV hooked up tonight. Seems to be working well so far. Now I just have to get the rest of my stuff over here.

We decided to take a wall and a small closet out before we move everything in. We got it down, so now we need to patch up where it was and get new carpeting for that room.

I am so tired right now. Hopefully I’ll be able to sleep tonight because I’ve only gotten 4 or 5 hours a night for the last week or so.

  15. Oh goody, colonoscopy day is here! I have to say, the prep wasn’t really as bad as I’d heard. It was unpleasant, much in the way that sitting at the DMV is unpleasant.

And if I can do it, anyone (who is over 50 and so should be having this done) can do it.

  16. “ALN Found Me” and I so sorry for being M.I.A. Wow, lots of stuff happening here. I’m having computer problems (can’t view most video’s) and still busy around the old house fixing up. I feel like I’m in a maze, once we fix one problem, we find another. *Sigh* I almost wish I was at Jonco’s stage and half way in between two homes if that makes sense??? At least I’d be mostly done with this place. Gawd, I just saw the reward for me Sir Paul. LMBO!!! Good one! I will check your link out. I’m also glad to hear what you have to say hcmom as I am suppose to have one lined up for next week and was a little frantic about that one. Sheesh, the way they can poke and prod our body. AND a new computer when I make the move. I might be asking for help in that area when I’m ready to look. This one came over on the Arc and it is ready to bite the dust. No more fixing it as it’s just not worth it.
Thanks for you concern and sorry to be an absent Mayor!! Will try harder to stay connected here. XOXO

When the calendar says “spring” in the rest of the northern hemisphere, here in south Florida we are at the beginning of the first of our TWO seasons every year: 9 months of summer, which is followed by 3 months of friends and relatives.
As a friend, you are welcome to visit whenever you desire.

    • We had a chilly wet week, a few weeks ago. Pretty much no winter at all this year. The past week has been a bit cooler, only in the mid 70s, but it would seem it’s going to be a very long harsh summer for us, with pretty bad drought conditions.

  17. Can I also mention here that my heart is going out not only to the 239 family members of flight MH370 and may they have closure soon, but also to the families of the Washington State mud slide. Such tragedies for all involved. 🙁 Two horrific incidents where loved ones may be gone forever. So very sad.

I’ve battled some tough stuff in my life but my heart really goes out to them all.

    Reply
    • Very thoughtful of you, Bella, sharing loving thoughts for all of those affected by such grief. I also wish to send heartfelt thoughts and prayers during these unfathomable events. A friend once fearfully lamented that “there are so many tragedies, continually, all over the world — how can so much ‘bad’ be happening?” I quickly told her to stop watching the news… And then, the thought: are these monumental catastrophes or even individual events happening more often than in the past? Or has technology brought more incidents, more often, to the forefront faster and to a greater audience? I just want those whom I love to know NOW that I love them regardless of what tomorrow brings.

I think our next BABBQ should be NEXT April. AND that’s only because I’ve mentioned before that we would have to put Infi out like Mr. T IF he were to fly. (see the connection here?) That’s unless we decide to have it in Atlanta (or close) where it would be in approximately the same area to a bunch of B&P’ers. You know who you are. <3 Mmmmm, that might be a thought. I've got your back Infi! <3

A 2 for 1 would be great and there’s a lot of history in that area so can call it a home school field trip ya 3 for 1. and Gary said if i ever came out i had to take a dozen head of livestock home. ok that might be a negative.

  20. Those of you still running Windows XP may find this article handy. You may not know Microsoft is discontinuing support for XP on April 8th. This can, and most likely will, leave your computer open to hackers. Any security flaws they find in the operating system will no longer be patched. Your only real safe choice is to upgrade your system or disconnect it from the internet.

    • Not being a computer savant, here’s my question to you, Kevin. My Dell desk top is so old it doesn’t have a DVD reader, it has a DC ROM.
Microsoft’s web site says I should do a custom installation, requiring an external hard drive and at least 5 hours to do the installation.
Since I rarely use that relic on line, if I disconnect from the internet will I stll be able to connect wirelessly with my lap top?
      thanks Kevin

      Reply
      • I assume you are talking about disconnecting the desktop computer from the internet but still be able to connect it to your laptop to transfer files and what-not? It can be done, by changing TCP/IP settings but probably would be a bit of a pain. If you are talking about just disabling the internet on the Dell all you have to do is unplug the ethernet connection in the back of it, the laptop will still connect to the wireless router just fine.
