Hey, we had sunshine and a beauty of a day here. Just loverly. Thankfully it’s rescued me from my gray cloud. AND Thank you Tenderkiss! I know winter isn’t finished yet but a gorgeous day gives ya hope that spring is around the corner. Now if the six feet of snow in the backyard will disappear by tomorrow, all will be good. I’ve been volunteering like crazy as our cold snap caused a lot of damage with frozen pipes, heat, flooding etc. What a mess some folks had. It’s all cleaned up and everyone is safe now. I like watching Sister Wives too. They’re a loving family and kinda funny too. A different lifestyle but each to their own. I love watching Cops and Lock-Up. ♫ ♪ Bad boys, bad boys, whatcha gonna do? ♪ ♫
Haha! I love you girl! I’m glad you watch it too. I just find it fascinating for some reason. Then I think of back when I had to have a female roommate and can’t comprehend being around that many women all the time weather they live in the same house or not. Lol
So being the Mayor of the B&P Lounge has many benefits, one of which is having your post at the top of a new page. I envy you in that you experience all 4 seasons. Here in south Florida we only have 2: nine months of summer and three months of friends and relatives.
Hey Friends!
I am in a Design a T-Shirt contest for Eegee’s, a local restaurant here in Tucson. If you have a few minutes and a Facebook account, please log in and vote for my design. Whoever has the most votes will win Eegee’s for a year!! If you could also ask your friends to vote, that would be awesome!!
Thank you much!

I have a friend who has a… something. It’s not quite a blog, but it is a something, and it’s often quite interesting. And educational, although not necessarily USEFULLY so.
http://collegeofcuriosity.com/17-feb-2014-daily-curio-from-forensic-reconstruction-to-herkimer-diamonds-to-crater-mining-to-the-two-kansases/
It’s absolutely useful to know that John Scott Haldane experimented with poisonous gasses on his 8 year old son. http://collegeofcuriosity.com/18-feb-2014-daily-curio-from-the-thing-to-sea-canaries-to-coal-mines-to-familial-experimentation/
That’s odd. Why do I get a notification that Jeff commented here, but when I get here there is no comment?
I thought it was a link to the same post so I didn’t approve it. Upon further review I see that it’s not, so it’s approved now. I should have looked closer at it.
Ah, got it. Same site, different day. 🙂
ha ha ha, that’s great
Hows everybody doing…..Are we there yet!
Well, we have a contract on a new (to us) house. Assuming all goes well our closing date is a month from now. Now we just need to sell our current house.
I plan to have posts up every day but probably not as many posts per day. There is a lot to do in the next few weeks.
Good luck, Jonco! Moving sucks…
Thanks. I’m wore out and we haven’t started moving yet. Still decluttering.
Finally we’re going to get some rain here. This storm should double our current total, up from about an inch so far this rainy season. That leaves us just eight inches short of normal…
Well, I’m finally back from my cruise through the Panama Canal from Los Angeles to Fort Lauderdale. It was sixteen days of being pampered and overfed. We had terrific weather with the temps getting up to 90F in Panama. The Canucks on board were not very happy when they were told that they had to leave the ship in Lauderdale…
A cruise through the Panama Canal is high on my wish list!!
Richard, I can tell you that the locals here in south Florida were not very happy, either. Seems to be related to Bad Tipping Disease. They seem to think that a $1 tip per person is sufficient, regardless of the party (or check) size. I have a friend in the business work a 12 top one night at a nice restaurant, her Canadian guests ran up a bill of just over $325, and her tip was $9.00.
Back on the internet, woo hoo.. well, for me, anyway.
Jonco, you are the 4th person I know in the past year who’ve decided to downsize, cull through years of collecting “stuff” and choose to move to a simpler habitat. We did it ‘cuz we had to, and honestly, it’s been the best thing ever. Our other friends have found the change a ‘breath of fresh air,’ and enjoying it. Best of luck to you and the Misses in this new adventure. (I have to admit, I will miss your backyard posts of the deer, snowfall and the Mississippi as your backyard).
Thanks Mary. I’ll miss the beautiful sunrises and the barges plowing the river but I’m ready for a change. We’ve spent 14 years here.
This is for Bella. Sara went on this Zip Line in Maui Last Week she said you would have loved it and need to go with her next time.
This is a vid done by someone else haven’t got her vid downloaded yet.
When I went to Alaska six years ago, I had the opportunity to do a zip line. But this was back at the very very very beginning of the rest of my life, and just being in Alaska represented a huge scary thing for me, and I’d also already done a helicopter trip to a glacier, so I didn’t do the zip line. Now I’m sad, but someday…
For those of you who love to see pictures of my family, I post a picture a day on Facebook and you can click on my name to get to my link. It is private due to an ex-turned-stalker, so just send me a request (and a msg with ur b&p screen name) and I will gladly accept you. I just forget to post pics here sometimes. 🙂
Oh, I’m glad Sara got to go on one. We didn’t have much success in Vegas when we tried to go. I’d love to see the video of her!!!
Some Canadians are just dumb. I think they figure that everyone’s minimum wage is the same as ours, which isn’t great but better than some. I know we tipped like crazy while in Vegas when we heard what their wages were.
Tenderkiss, I will be sending you a message when I get moved. Not quite there yet. Still working at it, hopefully soon.
We ended up not moving to Chattanooga. Instead, we took a vacation there and just got a rent house in Ruston, La so I can be closer to family while my husband is working in Alaska. Still a lot of unpacking to do.
So it was 80° yesterday and 82° so far today. We’re supposed to have up to an inch of snow on the ground by morning. Crazy!
Shameless plug:
http://www.fortlauderdalenightout.com
It’s my franchised web site, I need all the visits I can get. I think a quota of 4 visits per day from everyone here is a good number. For starters.
some of those restaurants look good any deliver to N Idaho?
I’m sorry, I can’t seem to find N Idaho Street in Ft. Lauderdale, do yo have a major intersection to use as a guide?
go North on “Where the heck am I street” hang a left on “lost ave” and you can almost see it from there.
“almost see it from there” means you’re not in Wasilla.
You are confusing Sarah Palin with Tina Fey. It was Tina who said “You can see Russia from my house.” Ms. Palin said “You can actually see Russia from parts of Alaska”, which is factual…
I was not confusing one for the other. That’s probably one of the very few times the half term former governor stated an actual fact. Have you clicked on my site?
Nice site, Paul! I visited twice… so far 🙂
Thanks Mary, every single click helps!
I just clicked, even though it’s fairly unlikely I’ll be visiting Ft. Lauderdale again any time soon. And if I do, I’ll probably just end up eating the same place I ate the last two trips, Mai Kai.
One word: Touristtrap.
Absolutely! Actually, I guess I’ve been in Ft. Lauderdale three times, now that I think of it, and yes, all three times we’ve gone there. It’s a fairly good size group of us that goes, and part of the reason we do is because it’s so freaking wonderfully cheesy!!
ETA: Oh yeah, and the rum drinks… 🙂
I’m amazed Mai Kai is STILL in operation. Loved to drive by, reminding me that I was in the tropics! Yay
APB: BOLO for the mayor of the B&P Lounge, last seen on March 8. Mayor was in the process of moving domiciles. Reward for finding her is a 6 pack of Labatt’s Blue or Molson Golden. Searchers are invited to check in early and often. You may now resume your everyday living.
Thanks for leading the search team, Paul! She hasn’t been to the offices either. Hope she didn’t pack herself up in a moving box by mistake. I know she said something about ‘hibernation….’ Maybe the sound of popping the top of a beer will awaken her from slumber, just in time for Spring!
We have a new house and have moved a few things in. I got internet, phone and TV hooked up tonight. Seems to be working well so far. Now I just have to get the rest of my stuff over here.
We decided to take a wall and a small closet out before we move everything in. We got it down, so now we need to patch up where it was and get new carpeting for that room.
I am so tired right now. Hopefully I’ll be able to sleep tonight because I’ve only gotten 4 or 5 hours a night for the last week or so.
Did you accidentally wall up our B&P Lounge Mayor??!!
Oh my gosh, that is too funny hcmom! Though felt a little chill as it reminded me of Edgar Allan Poe’s ‘Cask of Amontillado’…
Congratulations on your new house (and new B&P Central), Jonco! Fine-tuning the abode is always a tiring adventure as you really make it into your ‘home.’ The payoff will be great. Enjoy!
Oh goody, colonoscopy day is here! I have to say, the prep wasn’t really as bad as I’d heard. It was unpleasant, much in the way that sitting at the DMV is unpleasant.
And if I can do it, anyone (who is over 50 and so should be having this done) can do it.
“ALN Found Me” and I so sorry for being M.I.A. Wow, lots of stuff happening here. I’m having computer problems (can’t view most video’s) and still busy around the old house fixing up. I feel like I’m in a maze, once we fix one problem, we find another. *Sigh* I almost wish I was at Jonco’s stage and half way in between two homes if that makes sense??? At least I’d be mostly done with this place. Gawd, I just saw the reward for me Sir Paul. LMBO!!! Good one! I will check your link out. I’m also glad to hear what you have to say hcmom as I am suppose to have one lined up for next week and was a little frantic about that one. Sheesh, the way they can poke and prod our body. AND a new computer when I make the move. I might be asking for help in that area when I’m ready to look. This one came over on the Arc and it is ready to bite the dust. No more fixing it as it’s just not worth it.
Thanks for you concern and sorry to be an absent Mayor!! Will try harder to stay connected here. XOXO
Glad you checked in! Missed ya. Good luck with your move and solving the computer issues!
Is it spring anywhere or still chilly in most places? Our days are gorgeous here but the nights are still really cold.
Your Honor,
When the calendar says “spring” in the rest of the northern hemisphere, here in south Florida we are at the beginning of the first of our TWO seasons every year: 9 months of summer, which is followed by 3 months of friends and relatives.
As a friend, you are welcome to visit whenever you desire.
Thank You Sir Paul. I would be more than honored to visit with you and Kevin. That would be awesome. I’ll let you know as soon as I win the lottery that I am on my way. And then I just may never leave……. 🙂
We get a couple of 70 and 80 degree days and then WHAM! It’s supposed to snow Monday night… not much but still snow…. and COLD.
We have the same crap! One day is so nice & sunny and gives you hope and then BAM, the next day is freakin’ freezing and the long johns are on again. It was a bitter cold day today but a good one as I took my Son’s GF out for her Birthday lunch. I sure like her. I hope she keeps him. 😛 Who knows what tomorrow will bring? Maybe more sunshine? 🙂
We had a chilly wet week, a few weeks ago. Pretty much no winter at all this year. The past week has been a bit cooler, only in the mid 70s, but it would seem it’s going to be a very long harsh summer for us, with pretty bad drought conditions.
Can I also mention here that my heart is going out not only to the 239 family members of flight MH370 and may they have closure soon, but also to the families of the Washington State mud slide. Such tragedies for all involved. 🙁 Two horrific incidents where loved ones may be gone forever. So very sad.
I’ve battled some tough stuff in my life but my heart really goes out to them all.
Very thoughtful of you, Bella, sharing loving thoughts for all of those affected by such grief. I also wish to send heartfelt thoughts and prayers during these unfathomable events. A friend once fearfully lamented that “there are so many tragedies, continually, all over the world — how can so much ‘bad’ be happening?” I quickly told her to stop watching the news… And then, the thought: are these monumental catastrophes or even individual events happening more often than in the past? Or has technology brought more incidents, more often, to the forefront faster and to a greater audience? I just want those whom I love to know NOW that I love them regardless of what tomorrow brings.
Well said Mary as we are never guaranteed a tomorrow.
I commented this on the Mr. T post but I think it is food for thought?? If this were to happen, and Jonco approved, would anyone else be interested in meeting there? I know we’re getting older but damn, a year down the road isn’t too long to plan for. 😉

I think our next BABBQ should be NEXT April. AND that’s only because I’ve mentioned before that we would have to put Infi out like Mr. T IF he were to fly. (see the connection here?) That’s unless we decide to have it in Atlanta (or close) where it would be in approximately the same area to a bunch of B&P’ers. You know who you are. <3 Mmmmm, that might be a thought. I've got your back Infi! <3
I like that Idea my kids have a brother and sister they haven’t seen in 12 years in Oklahoma we have been talking of heading out east to see them. A 2 for 1 would be great and there’s a lot of history in that area so can call it a home school field trip ya 3 for 1. and Gary said if i ever came out i had to take a dozen head of livestock home. ok that might be a negative.
anyway I’m game.
I’d be up for a weekend in Atlanta.
What time of year would most people want to do this? (Not a really hot month, this albino can’t handle it)
June, July, August and September would not work for you.
I thought Atlanta only HAD hot months…
We have 8 months of hot weather, 2 months of coldish weather and 2 months to go on vacation to somewhere hot.
You don’t want to be in Atlanta at the height of spring. Stand in one place for 5 minutes and you’re covered in yellow pollen.
You are right, so no BABBQ in April or May. We now only have October, November and March available…
Those of you still running Windows XP may find this article handy. You may not know Microsoft is discontinuing support for XP on April 8th. This can, and most likely will, leave your computer open to hackers. Any security flaws they find in the operating system will no longer be patched. Your only real safe choice is to upgrade your system or disconnect it from the internet.
Not being a computer savant, here’s my question to you, Kevin. My Dell desk top is so old it doesn’t have a DVD reader, it has a DC ROM.
Microsoft’s web site says I should do a custom installation, requiring an external hard drive and at least 5 hours to do the installation.
Since I rarely use that relic on line, if I disconnect from the internet will I stll be able to connect wirelessly with my lap top?
thanks Kevin
I assume you are talking about disconnecting the desktop computer from the internet but still be able to connect it to your laptop to transfer files and what-not? It can be done, by changing TCP/IP settings but probably would be a bit of a pain. If you are talking about just disabling the internet on the Dell all you have to do is unplug the ethernet connection in the back of it, the laptop will still connect to the wireless router just fine.
BWAA HA HA HA!!!! Seems the IRS didn’t make the Windows XP end of life deadline and now has to pay Microsoft millions of dollars for continued support. Take that Mr Taxman!!! Wait… what?!? That’s taxpayer money! Give it back to us!

I haven’t been to the dentist since I moved here, so I needed to find a local one. Dr. Ramirez has a great first name for this occasion. I’m atheist, but I’m going to go meet Jesus in an hour.
🙂 Just went to see my dentist, Dr. Payne. LOL! We call him Dr. Walter.
Just to inform you Jonco, wordpress.org is now safe. Might want to change your password now if you haven’t done so in the last day.
Thanks Kevin.
According to the almanac, we’re suppose to have a really hot summer this year. What are your predictions?
I notice that several comments are missing in response to Bella’s last post about the almanac. Maybe the Farmers have censor bots available to them…
I didn’t do anything to any comments here.
I took them. Holding them hostage until Bella makes me a strawberry daiquiri.
Hope you brought the fresh strawberries, kevin.
Well that sounds like an awesome idea Kevin. Mmmm, we could pound a couple of those babies. 🙂 Yes, we would need fresh strawberries Mary….and lots of ’em.
Wait, how did I miss a strawberry daiquiri party??!! And we have plenty of fresh strawberries around here this time of year!
You haven’t missed it yet. It’s in the plan….. 😉
I’m scheduled for my first mountain solo Saturday afternoon, but the forecast is for winds in the wrong direction, so could everyone please make the appropriate sacrifices to the wind gods for me?
Sure enough, no flying for me today. Maybe next weekend, I guess. I’m pretty bummed.
Crazy weather patterns happening – looking better for take-off now as May begins?
I bought a refurbished computer from the college here for $75 and that includes the tower, keyboard and mouse. My son is still doing updates etc. for me but I can see video’s now and it is so much faster. The last boat anchor…is just that. Swimming with the fishies.
Good luck with your computer! Heard new Windows 8 has caused a few probs (as it seems with every software upgrade). Wishing you smooth sailing and dropping that anchor off for good!
Thanks Mary. It had IE on it and I guess that is useless now so have to get Sonny Boy to work on that now. I used IE at work so am used to it but that Vista was terrible. Nothing but trouble with that thing. Upwards and Onwards, they say.
Heeey how come I’ve never been here?
PEOPLE IH MY COUNTRY ARE TACTLESs MOTHERFUCKERS.
THAT IS ALL
Hello, Miss Silver, I don’t know why you’ve never been here, we’ve been waiting for you!!!
Glad you found your way to the B&P Lounge. I’m sure you will enjoy the interaction here.
Helloooooooo Miss Silver! I, too, originally missed the off ramps to the other parts of B&P… but we’re here and a grand welcome!
Happy to see you here, Miss Silver. I’ve seen a lot of your comments elsewhere…glad you finally made it here. I hope your day got better…
If you guys have never heard any Jonathan Coulton, today is the perfect day for an introduction: (Lyrics may not be safe for work)

LMAO hcmom! We used to have a tradition at work of skipping in and singing “Hooray, hooray, the first of May, outdoor screwing starts today”. I miss that gang, lots of fun. This reminded me of that. Thanks! Hello Missy Silver!!! So glad you made the trip. You’ll brighten this corner of the world in no time at all. Big Hug!
I should be sleeping but my uterus is cramping like a mean fucker and I am having heat flashes. Periods are not fun. RAAAAH! Thanks for the warm welcone you guys!!!
