  1. I remember. I believe we got down to 28¢ @ gal here in N Ohio. Don’t recall the exact year, but I think I was driving my old 65 Impala. About a 20 gal tank could fill for under five bucks.
Yeah I’m that old, you buncha little whippersnappers!

  2. The station I was working at in the early seventies got down to $.21 during a gas war. A couple years later and then the OPEC oil embargo, $.60 a gallon.

  3. When GULF introduced Gulftane for about 18¢ (can’t remember if it was 17.9 or 18.9). A Gulf station in small town western MA had a policy if they ran out of a grade you got the next grade up for the same price. There was a guy in town with half a dozen dump trucks that he would fill with Gulftane first thing every morning and each truck would hold near 100 gallons. The station ran out frequently and word would go out on the back fence gossip grapevine to fill your tank because regular was about 23¢

  4. I remember when I was a kid in SW Ohio when my Mom complained when gas hit $1.00/gallon.

I also remember when unleaded came out; my mom’s car could take leaded or unleaded gas–she usually got leaded because it was cheaper.
