In between the time that Dad was hurt and died, we made the decision to donate whatever organs could be salvaged. This was an easy decision, as Dad had previously said that he’d donate whatever he could, because he wouldn’t be needing them. (ha ha!)
Due to some circumstances as his age and such, they weren’t able to use Dad’s larger organs; but planned to take tissue and eyes.
Well, Mom recently got a nice letter from the transplant company. Here is a snip of the good stuff:

We encourage all of you who would also chose to donate your organs and/or tissue to make that fact known to your family.
Just say ‘Hey – this may be awkward, but my friend Jonco’s organs helped out multiple people after he died.. and I’d like to do that too – so if anything were to happen to me, I want you to know that now.’
If you live in the US, You can sign up to be an organ donor HERE.
❤️
That’s awesome!
D itto to the above!
So awesome. 💖
Love this. I’m definitely on the organ donor list and hope one day someone can benefit from my organs after I’m gone.
I agree with your Dad; when I am dead, I no longer need my organs, so if anyone can use them, they are welcome to it.
Helping people even from beyond, leave it to your dad!! That’s really a nice letter.
This is nice, but there are multiple hospital systems in this country that won’t allow me to receive or donate an organ because I’m not needled. Would anyone like to expound on this issue?
And, no, I will not be taking the needle under any circumstances. That suggestion is off the table.
Jonco, I know you’re somewhere reading this. Tell us who received your left nostril.
Great that Jonco did this, and great that you mentioned it. I’m actually an organ recipient, though my donor was alive (and still is), the impact of donating your organs goes so much further than people realize. You could be the reason a mother gets to hold her child, or a husband his wife.
It doesn’t hurt to mention that you can donate organs while alive and be a real hero to someone that slowly dying on dialysis or some other machine to keep them ticking.
