Refused to leave?
Is that just another way of saying the owners chose to leave the dog behind to tend the goats in a wildfire?
I get that dogs can be stubborn and refuse to leave their flock. But the dog doesn’t exactly have the intelligence and decision-making capability to understand the impending danger and make an informed decision. It’s not like the dog read the newspaper and decided to stay despite the fire.
IF this story is true, then it’s a terrible case of a negligent dog and goat owner escaping and leaving behind their animals to die in a fire.
