My Dad would have been 108 today. He was a plain and simple man who enjoyed tinkering on his farm after he retired in 1971 due to health conditions. He was most comfortable dressed in his overalls and that hat. I can remember just a handful of times that he put on slacks and a nice shirt to go to a wedding or funeral.
This has always been my favorite picture of him. I took this (in the early 1980s, I think) as he stooped on the bridge we built over the roadside gully that led to their farm.
He retired at 61 after he had a heart attack and my parents moved to a farm that they bought near Greenville, MO a few years earlier. He died in 1990 at the age of 78.
