  1. Betamax was the superior video tape maching. The thing that killed it was
    that the VHS machines offered longer recording and playback. This was a
    big deal when either tape format cost about 12 dollars a pop for a tape. Man,
    the special effects like slow-mo was as steady on a Betamax as a studio quality
    video camera.
