Weekend Open Mic

Weather: A few more days of rain then we’re in for 90 ° F+ weather, but at least it’ll be drier. Summer has arrived.

The weekend: Nothing planned for the weekend.

TV: Still watching The Handmaid’s Tale (HULU) weekly. Also watching Happy Valley (second season) (Netflix). Watched a couple of episodes of F is For Family (Netflix) and Kim’s Convenience (Netflix) and Letterman’s My Next Guest (Netflix).

That’s it from B&P Headquarters in St. Louis. What’s going on in your world?

  1. How about some reviews of the shows/movies you watch? A short sentence about each one and a 1-5 star rating . Come on, help us out here !!

    • Sneaky Pete: ☆☆☆☆ (four stars out of 5) – 3 Seasons – A con man on the run from a vicious gangster takes cover by assuming the identity of his prison cellmate, Pete, reuniting with his estranged family, that threatens to drag him into a world just as dangerous as the one he’s escaping. I like the twists and turns this show has.
The Handmaid’s Tale: ☆☆☆☆ – 3 Seasons – Set in a dystopian future, a woman is taken from her family forced to live as a concubine and bear children, and give them up under a fundamentalist theocratic dictatorship.
Happy Valley: ☆☆☆ – 2 Seasons – A British crime drama about a police sergeant who catches a serial killer as she deals with her own complicated and related family issues.
Kim’s Convenience: ☆☆ – 3 Seasons – A comedy series about a Korean family that runs a convenience store in Toronto that deals with a traditional Korean father figure and his family issues. This appealed to me because I have a history of convenience store life.

    • Yes, these are my star ratings. I’m not a critic, but I just want to be entertained on one level or another. There are many ways that I can be entertained that others might find disturbing or just wrong and that’s okay. It’s just an opinion.

    • I’ve not seen it and have no idea what it’s about. I did see that people are protesting it for some reason.

      • An angel and demon team up to try to stop armageddon and destroy the anti-christ. The show has a very ‘Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy’ feel about it. Lot of big name actors in it. Here’s the trailer…

        • That might be interesting. I’ll have a look at it when I get caught up with a couple of others.

  2. Yes ! All I was hoping for is that when you post movies you’ve seen, you just let us know what you thought of them-always looking for good ones to see and bad ones to avoid !
    Thanks
