Gene Kelly, Debbie Reynolds and Donald O`Connor perform Good Mornin’ from the 1952 film Singing In The Rain. Reynolds died on Wednesday, December 28, just one day after her daughter, Carrie Fisher died.
Reynolds, who was just 19 when the film was made had practiced for this for just a couple months before filming began. She held her own pretty well while performing with the veteran singers and dancers O’Connor and Kelly.
Thanks, Mike (from Spain)
Debbie Reynolds was 19 when “Singing In The Rain” was filmed; her daughter Carrie Fisher was 19 when “Star Wars” was filmed.
How old is Carrie’s daughter? I know she had a small part in Force Awakens, makes me wonder if they’ll expand her role in the remaining movies as a nod to her mother.
Wiki says her name’s Billie Lourd, now 24, and she began her career in 2015. I thought I read somewhere that her mother discouraged her from going into acting.
I could see Leia, Chewy, and Vader doing this number. À la Young Frankenstein’s Puttin’ on the Ritz.
People just don’t randomly break into highly choreographed song & dance with full orchestration anymore.
I do!
I never thought I’d be the type of person who could start the morning off by singing and dancing like this. And I was right.
