Weekend Open Mic

Memorial Day weekend open mic

Weather: After a rainy week it looks like we might have a pretty nice holiday weekend and then back to a rainy week.  Things could be a lot worse.

Forecast may 28

Memorial Day Weekend: Going to watch granddaughter play soccer on Saturday and then to an all day picnic on Sunday.  We might go to the zoo on Monday.

That’s it from B&P Headquarters in St. Louis. What’s going on in your world?

  1. We have had a couple big motorcycle festivals this past week. SC has no helmet law and that brings them in. I’m not complaining because it has been a blast. I learned that I prefer the crotch rocket over the hog because it isn’t as loud. Storm Bonnie didnt dump too much rain here, its a beautiful morning on the coast.

    • The loudness of a motorcycle depends mostly on the pipes and muffler. I had a Harley Electra-Glide and it wasn’t loud at all. It would scare the crap out of me when some idiot on a crotch rocket came screaming past me. I usually expected to see one crashed down the road, but never did.

      • I didn’t mean to shed bad light on the Harley, oh not at all. The Hog rally is LOUD but the riders cause no trouble at all. OTOH, The crotch rocket crew is much more fun to watch because they really trick out their ride. They don’t behave as well, in mass, as the hog folks and extra police come in from neighboring counties to help. Bottom line: I live 5 block off the main drag and hogs keep me awake, Ninjas don’t.

    • I’m the opposite, I prefer the cruisers with the loud pipes and the comfy ride, with all the leather, the youngsters can have their crotch rockets.

      • I was never into loud pipes until someone explained to me that it is a safety factor. Unobservant motorists definitely know you’re there with loud pipes. I toyed with getting them but never did. And now that I sold my bike I probably won’t be getting any loud pipes.

  2. Dealing with a leaky roof at work and heavy rains, pulled an all-nighter Friday making rain buckets to place inside in hopes of controlling the water. I’m not going to be able to do much about the leaks themselves at the moment (especially with a flat roof and while it’s still raining), but I have to do something. Plus, I have some other repairs to do at work; replace a few electrical fixtures, fix a toilet leaking before the stop (yay, I get to shut off the water to do that one) and attempt to replace a counter top in the same restroom, plus a few other things I have time. So…. my Memorial Day ends up being another busy day at work, just without any people around.
