Weather: Springtime in the midwest. A little rain, some clouds and some sun and mild temperatures.
Shingles: I went to the doctor Monday and he confirmed it was shingles even though I pretty much knew it was. He said I was in for a rough couple of weeks and that it could last up to a couple of months. It’s been almost two weeks since this all started and I’m happy to say that it’s starting to get better as long as I take the meds. The last couple of days have been better during the day but it seems to get bad in the evening. Before that it was bad day and night. The shingles rash has only affected the top and back side of one ear. That is clearing up pretty good too. I could have dealt with that without much problem if it weren’t for the neuralgia pain that shoots up the side of my face. I tried to go without the pain pills this morning but that didn’t last too long. It just takes the edge off the pain.
The weekend: I’m headed to Paragould Arkansas Saturday morning for the funeral of a childhood friend. She was given 3 months to live about 18 months ago. She put up a good fight, but alas, no one gets out of this life alive. There were 6 kids in her family, all younger than me and now 4 of them have died. They kind of took me and a friend in and treated us like part of their family. They took us on vacations and we spent a lot of time at their house as teenagers.
I’m not sure what’s going on on Sunday.
