I’ve always suspected there was more to Ira Hayes’ death than just that he drank himself to death. I know in the 40’s, 50’s, 60’s, and even now when an American Indian dies under shady circumstances no one cares very much.
I have a feeling that there was no investigation into his death, it was just a case of another drunken Indian. I always suspected he suffered from PTSD, but thought maybe he was murdered.
