Reminds me of an aunt my wife has: she was complaining how the control panel on her refrigerator was coming apart and developing holes (this was the control panel to get water and ice). A brother-in-law says “let’s see if this will help”–and peels the protective plastic sheet off. The fridge looked good as new–and it was several years old.
On the other hand, the battery was always charged and she always had perfect reception. You may have done her a disservice.
