Weekend Open Mic

Weekend open mic

WordCamp St. Louis:  I’m off to an all day conference about WordPress at Washington University in St. Louis.  I’ve pre-posted posts (a little redundancy for you this morning) for your enjoyment today.

Weather: Another major winter storm is bearing down on the midwest.  A mixture of sleet, freezing rain and snow is predicted.  I think I’ve mentioned it before but in case I haven’t … I’ve had enough of winter and am ready for spring.

B&P HQ Moving:  We’re in the process of buying a new home about 20 minutes closer to St. Louis.  If all goes well we’ll close later this month.  We’ve been cleaning and de-cluttering the current house and getting it ready for market.

That’s it from B&P Headquarters in St. Louis. What’s going on in your world?

  1. You’re giving up that spot overlooking the river?!?! Wow! I would find it hard to leave that.

    • It’s time to downsize, Tim. A two-story house isn’t the best for older knees and bodies. We’re moving to a smaller one-story ranch home about 15 minutes up the highway. It’ll be an adjustment but I feel good about it.

  2. Supposed to hit 79 degrees today, then in 36 hours it will dip down to 19 degrees. I feel like we’re on a see-saw….

  3. We finally got some decent rain–3.25 inches in two days, and we’ve had more today. We even had some thunder and lightning, a rarity in SoCal. Hooray!

  4. Found out last night my buddy’s son was last weekend’s wrong way driver here in San Diego. Lives are shattered and Nick has a long road of redemption ahead of him. We all know you shouldn’t drink and drive but when you’ve had too much you’re not the best judge. I just wish someone would have taken his keys.

  5. Re: your plans to move closer to St. Louis…may I suggest my hometown, Webster Groves. A tad pricier than it used to be, but nice neighborhoods.

    • I have friends that live in Webster Groves. Very nice community. Our house isn’t that far in, but we’re closer than we were.

  6. While I can understand and appreciate the reason for the move, I wonder why the St. Louis area? Have you ever thought about the Springfield – Branson area? Seems a lot of folks are heading to that part of the state.

I have family in that area (Aurora & Walnut Grove) and was visiting there last September. Unfortunately, I did not have time to cross the state to the St. Louis area.

Will the new house be along the river? I have enjoyed the photos from your back yard.

    • The new house will not be on the river. St. Louis is home. Family is here and wife works here. The house I’m moving from is nice and the area is nice and quiet, but even 15-20 minutes closer to the city is a good thing for us. I’m not so close that I’m in all the city hustle and bustle but closer to things I like to do, like theaters, baseball games, shopping and friends.
