Actually the picture could be the result of the guys on the bottom floor throwing the sofa to the catchers on the second floor…R-i-g-h-t.
You are correct Richard, up the point of “throwing,” but it could well be the reverse action going on. I once had an apartment with a loft bedroom and this method was the simplest way to move a mattress in and out. But trust me, no one was throwing anything that heavy up to the second level.
