This 1933 recording by Tom Clarence Ashley & Gwen Foster is the oldest known recording of “House of the Rising Sun.”
I think I prefer the Animals’ version. … No, I’m SURE I prefer the Animals’ version.

It’s Labor Day weekend here in the US. Labor Day is the first Monday in September and is a day to celebrate the social and economic achievements of American workers. And how do we celebrate this day of achievement? By taking the day off from work.
Kansas here I come: I’ll be away until sometime Monday as we go on a little trip across Missouri and into Kansas. Two of our destinations are Manhattan Kansas and Abilene Kansas. Hopefully we’ll leave the wet weather in Missouri.
I’ve set up a few things to auto post but not too many as I’ve been dealing with a very cranky PC the last few days. I’ll try to check comments as time allows. Plus I’m working on a trivia night for next weekend. Hopefully I’ll be able to get all that done in time before my computer up and dies. Hopefully after next week things will slow down a bit for me.
Las Vegas 2013: I’ve made plans to head back to Las Vegas in early January for a bloggers convention. I went to one last year in Los Angeles and I found it quite interesting.
Water from the sky: It’s been raining here all day and it’s supposed to rain until sometime Sunday afternoon and then clear out. I think it’s going to visit DJ.
OK, I’m done. Now it’s your turn….
Thanks Marilyn
This Green Heron shows some real learning behavior. It actually feeds bread to fish to catch it. The method succeeds, a true testimony to bird cognition. The most amazing is, it seems to be hungry but does not eat the bread like the surrounding Ibises do.
