B&P Goes to Las Vegas Recap

BP Vegas Shirt5(1)I’ve sobered up recovered from the big Las Vegas Adventure last weekend.  It was great putting faces to the names we see here and meeting such warm and friendly people.

A special thanks to Barb and Paul for helping to organize the event and their guidance while we were there.

I’ve uploaded about 90 pictures to Flickr from the weekend.  I’m new to Flickr so I’m not sure how well this will work.   Here’s the link:

  1. Great pictures! Especially those of the Hoover Dam and the dog story. Know I’ll probably never get that way to see the Dam, so it was interesting to me. You all looked like you were having a good time, especially that Bella. And the food would have been way too much for me to eat. That waffle with the chicken would have made my blood sugar soar to high heaven. But what I want to know is what were you all looking up at the ceiling for in that one place? Were there paintings or something up there? Looks like you all enjoyed yourselves and that’s what counts.

    • An area 4 blocks long in downtown Las Vegas is known as the Fremont Street Experience. It is covered with a canopy that has 12.5 million LED lights and every hour in the evening there is a video/music show on the dome ceiling.
Mere is more info. Here’s a video of what it looks like. It changes all the time.

    • Anne S. It really was the trip of my lifetime. I had so much fun. It was such a pleasure to meet such wonderful people (you know who you are). Oh crap, Jonco’s got pictures. Hey I’ve got some too, I’ll send them in shortly. 🙂

PATCO, is that a real, live K Dragon, baby? Them buggers are dangerous!

    • When we all got down and chatted, your name came up many times. I think we coulda got in trouble there but it was not to be. Next time. Deal!

Oh, I did get my pat down and the buggers put me in that spinny thing, swabbed my hands, and questioned me. They were questioning my gender. (Coz I lost my boobs to breast cancer). I thought Shannon was gonna snap. My buddy. We made it back thru customs? And all is well. 🙂

  2. I’m still a bit shy when it comes to posting, but I had fun in Vegas. A little down that we weren’t able to hang out with you guys more. So glad we went though. It was nice meeting all of you.

  3. Great pics of Hoover Dam from the bridge, it was under construction at the time I visited.

Not sure if the water level in Lake Meade is from drought. I was that way 4 years ago and took a long while to get to that point, I think it’s more due to water diversion before it gets there.

Fremont Street has come a long way too, it used to be known as the “Poor Peoples Strip”.

  4. I remember the dam like it was yesterday I loved it,Jonco I think they over charged you on the drinks

    • Everything is a lot more expensive in Las Vegas these days. You used to be able to get a prime rib dinner for $3.95 in thew old days. We paid $11 for one this trip and that was cheap. They’ve gone upscale, that’s for sure.

        • I started going to Las Vegas in the mid 70’s I’d guess. I’ve been there at least a dozen times over the years. So, I’m thinking it was still cheap in the mid to late 80’s or early 90’s.

  5. Jonco, sorry it took so much effort to get the pictures up. Thanks for keeping at it. Great job!

    • I won’t mention that I had to Photoshop clothes on just about every picture of Bella. That’s what really took me so long. She kept taking her clothes off and running around naked!

  6. It was great to be able to meet everybody. I’m just sorry that I couldn’t have spent more time with everybody. Unfortunately, when you live here, Vegas is not a vacation. I view a lot of web sites, but B&P is the only one that is truly a community! I hope to see you all again.

    • I loved meeting you and your wife. You both are fantastic folk. Hugs to Chris. Neat Lady. Big Hugs.

  7. I had a blast! I am really thankful that we got to see the Beatles Love show. I’ve been wanting to see that for years, and even better with the company of great people!

Love you guys!!!! So happy to be able to meet everyone!
