New Year’s Eve Open Mic

Open mic New Year's Eve Saturday

It’s hard to believe another year bites the dust tonight.  The older I get the faster the time seems to go.

Appropriately we went to the movies last night and saw the film New Year’s Eve.  It had quite a few stars in it including Robert DeNiro. Michelle Pfieffer, Hillary Swank, Halle Berry, Ashton Kutcher, Sarah Jessica Parker, Seth Meyers, Jon Bon Jovi, Katherine Heigl, Jessica Biel, Abigail Breslin and Zac Efron just to name a few.  It was very good.

New Year’s Eve will most likely be rather quiet around our house.  I think we’re just going to stay in and play some cards and/or watch the festivities on TV if I can stay up that late.

What are your plans for bringing in the new year?

Do you have any New Year’s Resolutions?

  1. My plans for tonight are the same as yours… Staying in, maybe a beer or two, and I know I will not make it past 10pm. Looking forward to another great year visiting your site!

  2. Crowded, mediocre restaurant with relations I just saw last week. Hopefully they all go home well before midnight.
I’d like to be in my PJs, enjoying a glass of wine while reading on my new Kindle when 2012 arrives.

  3. I was thinking of taking my mother and daughter out to eat.

I like to start the New Year with a word or a phrase. Last year I picked the word STOP. I wanted to stop procrastinating, stop cursing, stuff like that. This year I think my word will be COURAGE.

  4. Happy New Year everyone! Having my brother and sisters round to see in the new year. My brother and one sister driving so it will be a quiet affair.

  5. I stay indoors on New Year’s Eve. It is the safest way to avoid the amateur drunk drivers…as opposed to the professional drunk drivers…

  6. I was going to stay in but a friend is having a party and he’s asked a few of his musician friends to bring acoustic instruments and play a set.
We provide the entertainment, he provides the beer and food, everyone else brings their own…
Sounds more civilised than wading through drunken orange women and pissed-up teens looking for a shag-or-fight so I’ll be going along to that I think.

  7. Happy New Years and a wish for a wonderful 2012 to everyone!

Just got back from taking the dogs out for a walk in the woods…having a fondue and bubbly with the kids in a couple of hours, talk to some family members and then theoretically we have the house to ourselves since the kids both say they are heading out to friends’ for the evening. HAH! Either way, doubt we’ll make it till midnight since lots of fresh air and being up since 4 am will do that for you but local fireworks may help. Either way, goodbye 2011 and welcome 2012.

  8. Talked with some friends on the phone and watched Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part II. Will go to bed around ten and read for a while. Pretty much the usual–I never go out on New Year’s Eve because of the drunk drivers.

  9. Happy New Year everyone! I stayed in for amateur night and did my nails. It’s safer and less expensive. My nails look nice too.
