  1. This reminds me of the study that found that most auto accidents happen at speeds below 25 mph and within 25 miles of home. So drive like hell, far away from your house…

  2. Your odds of dying from Unintentional Injuries: 1 in 2,941.
    So, what are the odds of dying from Intentional Injuries?

    And, I hate to skew those numbers, but:
    * I haven’t eaten at Mickey Ds in a dozen or more years, and don’t ever intend to again (or Burger King, or Jack in the Box, or Taco Bell, or any other fast-food joint, for that matter)
    * I don’t golf
    * I’m male, so I would assume the odds against my having triplets (with OR without using fertility drugs) is even higher than 1 in 8,100

    On the plus side, however, I think it’s cool that I have a 1 in 80,089,128 chance of winning the Powerball Jackpot. Just curious, though — do my odds improve if I buy a ticket?

  3. Where in the world did they get these numbers?? Your lifetime risk of dying from heart disease and cancer are 1-in-5 and 1-in-7, respectively.

  4. Funny, I was minutes from dying from smallpox due to inaccurate vaccination dose back in 1972. The virus still exists in laboratories.
