My nickname is “Pito” – in some Spanish speaking countries in means “whistle”….. expect for Mexico which means Penis
I taught Spanish for Spanish Speakers, as well as English as a Second Language, often to the same kids. They were all pretty aware of different meanings for the same word in different countries, but English–that’s a tough language to learn! Spanish vowels are always pronounced the same, whereas in English there are many different sounds for the same letter. And for English words with different meanings? I don’t have space here even to start on them.
